This was a small project right at the start of COVID-19, where I needed two Universal Robots UR3e robot arms under ROS control. It was early lockdown, so there was no way I was getting into the lab; everything had to happen in simulation on a fairly old laptop from my MSOE days. I did, however, have two old Dell Latitude laptops that could run the UR emulator perfectly well. Each acted as a robot over the network, with my brother’s old personal laptop as the control PC running ROS. Those three went on the bookcase; the MSOE laptop stayed at my desk as the dev machine.
Sometimes you are forced to get creative (bonus points if it actually works).
