Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

This policy describes what information the Half-Built-Robots website, owned by Curt Henrichs LLC (a California LLC), collects and what happens to it. The short version: this is a static blog, and it collects almost nothing.

What this site collects

There are no user accounts, no comments, and no ads on this site. Search runs entirely in your browser.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like nearly every host, Cloudflare may keep standard request logs (your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request) as part of serving the site.

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. Cloudflare adds a small script to each page for this. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and does not follow you to other sites. What it produces is a tally of which pages got read.

Cookies and browser storage

The site sets no cookies of its own. Cloudflare runs bot protection in front of the site, and that sets one cookie, cf_clearance. It tells Cloudflare your browser already passed its check, so you don’t get challenged again. It lasts up to a year and only Cloudflare can read it. It isn’t used for ads or to follow you around the web.

The site also keeps a few small things in your browser’s local storage. None of it is sent anywhere and none of it identifies you.

  • hbr-theme: your light or dark mode choice, saved when you use the toggle.
  • half-built-ecosystem: a copy of the list of my other sites shown in the footer, kept for a day so it isn’t fetched on every page. The list comes from ecosystem.half-built-robots.com, which is also mine and also on Cloudflare.
  • henry-loose and henry-stasis: Henry’s state, if you’ve found him and started playing.

Clearing your browser’s data for this site removes all of it.

Do Not Track

Nothing on this site tracks you across other sites, so it behaves the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. There is nothing for the signal to turn off.

Mailing list

The site has a mailing list signup. If you subscribe, the email address you provide is used to send you the newsletter and nothing else. It is not sold or shared. Addresses are stored and mail is sent by Buttondown. If the list ever moves to another provider, the addresses move with it and this policy is updated to name the new one. You can leave at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, or by asking using the contact information below. The details are on the mailing list page.

Why it’s kept and for how long

  • Mailing list address. You signed up and confirmed by email, so it’s held on your consent. It’s kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Cloudflare’s logs, analytics, and bot protection. These keep the site running and protected. Cloudflare keeps them on its own schedule under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
  • Email you send me. It’s used to answer you, and it stays in my inbox unless you ask me to delete it.

Where it’s processed

Cloudflare, Buttondown, and Google are United States companies, so anything they hold for this site is processed in the US. Cloudflare takes part in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Posts link to other websites. Their privacy practices are their own; this policy covers only this site.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Your data

Wherever you live, you can ask what this site holds about you. You can also ask to have it corrected, deleted, or sent to you as a copy, or ask me to stop using it. Write to the address below. For nearly everyone the answer is nothing. The only thing ever held is a mailing list address, and the unsubscribe link in any email removes that on its own. Unsubscribing is also how you withdraw your consent to the list, at any time.

If you think a request was handled badly, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Changes

Updates to this policy are posted on this page with a new date at the top.

Contact

The email address is a Gmail account, so mail sent to it is also handled by Google under Google’s privacy policy.
